Stamp Act is repealed in England.

March 18, 1766

King George III signs the motion to repeal the law soon after receiving it from the House of Lords. In his diary, John Adams writes that the repeal “has hushed into silence almost every popular Clamour, and composed every Wave of Popular Disorder into a smooth and peaceful Calm.”
